Founded in the memory of John Oberschmidt

Our son, John Oberschmidt, was an avid fan of the band "Phish", having attended over 50 concerts. Along the way, John met many more Phish fans, and they all stayed in touch through Phish message boards.
John posted under the name of "BlizzardGarcia", in recognition of his siberian husky, named "Blizzard", and his admiration of Jerry Garcia, guitarist and leader of the band, The Greatful Dead.
John was to start rehab in Clearwater, Florida, on May 24, 2010, but unfortunately, overdosed and passed away on May 21, 2010, at 30 years old.
His enthusiasm for entering rehab can be seen in some of the posts. There had been over 900 posts regarding John in the days following his death. Many have asked about a memento for John. So in his memory his sister, Heidi, designed men's and women's shirts and stickers, all to be sold as a fundraiser. All proceeds go directly to Emmaus House, in Saginaw, Michigan.
One important lesson we learned too late, is that if you know someone who has decided to go into rehab, stick by their side, night and day. Don't allow them to go for "one last hurrah", before entering their program.
We know the goals of Emmaus House were admired and encouraged by our son, John. Your contribution will go a long way.

Thank you for your concern,
Jean and Dave
